Diana Krall

Diana Krall est née le 16 novembre 1964 à Nanaimo au Canada. Dans une famille de musicien, elle commence le piano dés son plus jeune âge : 4 ans! A 15 ans la musique la passionne déjà, elle joue avec son groupe de jazz du lycée et se produit dans des petits restaurants.
A 17 ans, elle décroche le concours du Vancouver International Jazz Festival qui lui offre une bourse pour étudier au Berklee College of Music, à Boston, où elle y passera trois ans. Le bassiste Ray Brown, ancien mari d'Ella Fitzgerald la contacte et la persuade de venir à Los Angeles et d’apprendre à jouer du piano aux côtés de Jimmy Rowles aux côtés de qui elle commence à chanter.

En 1990 Diana Krall déménage à New York et prend contact avec des professeurs et des producteurs influents.
Trois ans plus tard, Diana Krall enregistre son premier album "Stepping out" avec John Clayton et Jeff Hamilton.

L'album attire l’attention de Tommy LiPuma, producteur qui lui permet de sortir son second album "Only Trust Your Heart" en 1995.

La consécration arrive avec son troisième album "All for you : a dedication to the Nat King Cole Trio" qui lui vaut une nommination aux Grammy Award. Diana Krall reste 70 semaines dans le classement jazz américain Billboard.

"Love Scenes", son quatrième album sort en 1997. Et en 2000 Diana Krall entame une tournée dans plus de 20 villes en compagnie de Tony Bennett. Elle est de nouveau nommé aux Grammy Awards dans la catégorie "meilleure musicienne de Jazz de l'année".

En 2001 elle son son cinquième album "The Look of love", disque de platine et qui entre rapidement dans le Top 10 américain, alors qu'il est quatre fois disque de platine et numéro un des top au Canada. Diana Krall foule la mythique salle de l'Olympia en France pour un concert qui donnera naissance à un album live.

Diana Krall se marie à Elvis Costello.
En 2004 elle sort son sixième album "The girl in the other room" dans lequel elle met en musique ses propres textes.
En 2005, elle est nommé Officier de l'Ordre du Canada, une récompense pour son talent et sa carrière.

Sortie 10 septembre 2007, "The Very Best of Diana Krall" est la première rétrospective de la carrière de celle qui est incontestablement la plus grande chanteuse de jazz de ces dernières années.

Depuis maintenant quatorze ans, cette artiste hors du commun, qui a onze disques à son actif en comptant les versions lives, vend des millions d’albums. "The Very Best of Diana Krall" est un recueil de chansons extraites de sa discographie.
Inclues, trois interprétations inédites de chansons rendues populaires par Frank Sinatra et Tom Waits.
